Aggregate Minerals Site Allocations DPD

The Proposed Submission draft Aggregate Minerals Site Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD) sets out firm proposals for locating new sand and gravel sites across the Plan area of Wiltshire and Swindon. Further information about earlier stages in the development of this DPD is available on the Wiltshire Council website at http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/aggregatemineralssiteallocations.

The draft plan represents the final key document within the current Wiltshire and Swindon Minerals and Waste Development Framework and has been prepared to supplement the adopted Minerals Core Strategy. A significant amount of evidence has been gathered to establish whether, in principle, the sites contained within this document are suitable for minerals extraction. This is available on the Wiltshire Council website at http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/aggregatemineralssiteallocations

Consultation

The Proposed Submission draft of the Aggregate Minerals Site Allocations DPD has reached a critical preparatory stage - the formal Regulation 27 consultation. The document has been published in order for representations to be made prior to the final submission / examination stage. This final round of consultation will consider issues of ‘soundness’. All representations submitted during this final round of consultation will be processed and sent on to the appointed Planning Inspector for consideration (alongside the submitted DPD) during the examination process. Legislative provisions state that the purpose of the examination is to consider whether the DPD complies with legal requirements and is 'sound'.

The consultation will last for six weeks, runningfrom 9am on Monday 30 January to 5pm on Monday 12 March, 2012.
