Wiltshire and Swindon Waste Site Allocations Additional Consultation
The event is not currently available for consultation.
Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council (the councils) have recently adopted their Waste Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD) and Waste Development Control Policies DPD. These documents set out:
- The strategy for meeting forecast demand for new waste facilities;
- The broad strategic locations for new waste management facilities, their relationship with SSCTs and the settlement pattern of Wiltshire and Swindon; and
- The approach to managing proposals for future waste development.
The final step in preparing the joint Waste Local Development Framework is the production of the Waste Site Allocations DPD. A total of 52 sites have been considered potentially suitable for accommodating waste uses within the Plan area. There are 14 sites located in the North Wiltshire area, 10 sites in the South, 12 located in the East and 9 in the West Wiltshire area. There are also 7 sites located within the Swindon Borough Council administrative area. The maps included for each site illustrate the site boundary and a brief site profile. The site profiles identify the key planning and environmental issues and notes what detailed assessments are considered necessary to determine suitability for further rigorous assessment.
If you would like to be part of the process of producing the Waste Site Allocations Development Plan Document please respond to this consultation by making representations on the sites by noon on the 17 March 2010. This can be done online via the following link: http://consult.wiltshire.gov.uk/portal. Hard copies can be requested by calling 01225 713429.
