Proposed Submission Draft Waste Site Allocations DPD

The event is not currently available for consultation.

Overview

The Waste Site Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD) sets out firm proposals for locating new waste management facilities across Wiltshire and Swindon. Further information about earlier stages in the development of this DPD is available on the Wiltshire Council website at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/wastesiteallocations.

The draft plan represents the final key document within the Wiltshire and Swindon Minerals and Waste Development Framework; and clearly identifies sites with the potential to deliver waste facilities in line with the policies set out in the adopted Wiltshire and Swindon Waste Core Strategy DPD.

A significant amount of evidence has been gathered to establish whether, in principle, the sites contained within this document are suitable for waste development. This is available on the Wiltshire Council website at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/mineralsandwasteevidencebase.

Consultation

The proposed submission draft of the Waste Site Allocations DPD, the formal Regulation 27 consultation, is published now in order for representations to be made prior to submission. The representations will be considered alongside the submitted DPD, which will be examined by a Planning Inspector. The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 states that the purpose of the examination is to consider whether the DPD complies with the legal requirements and is 'sound'.

During the consultation period, public exhibitions, staffed by council officers, will be taking place in each Community Area. The dates and venues can be found on the Wiltshire Council website at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/ldfconsult.

The consultation will last eight weeks, from 9am on Monday 13 June to 5pm on Monday 8 August, 2011.

Next steps

This final round of formal consultation provides the opportunity to comment on the soundness of the plan before it is submitted, subject to council approval, to the Secretary of State in November 2011, for independent examination and scrutiny.
